Committed Glass to 'Crete

I finally got up the nerve to add tesserate to Greenwoman. I'm following the vein lines and think that grout will make perfect veins.

4 Leaves

I finally got 4 leaves that work for the Garden Guardian/Sentinel/Curator.

Now, I think I can get started on her.

I'm also working on my second Wine Bottle Lamp. It's to be a tropical bouquet.

Beginning

This is a long term project. I started it last winter. It's to be a green woman, based on the English tradition.

I started with a mask. I filled it with leftover spectralok grout and turned it out onto a wedi oval.

Originally, I cut leaves from wedi, but it just didn't have the texture that it needed, so, I waited for leaves.

I've been casting concrete leaves for the green woman. The top and bottom are castor bean leaves.

The side leaf is from a sunflower. There were two and I broke one...so, I'm going to do another (at least one more, maybe several in hopes that I get one good one.)

So, Here's the beginning of "Garden Curator", she who watches over the garden.

Recycled Wine Bottle Lamp

I've been busy making mosaics. The wine bottle lamp was a succesful experiment.

I drilled a hole in a wine bottle with glass drill bits. I mosaiced with a fruit theme (I was thinking rather Tuscan.)

Then, inserted white mini Christmas lights through the hole. Addeda lamp kit for bottles and la voila - Recycled Wine bottle lamp. I'm so pleased with the way that it turned out - I will be making more.

Gardening!

I've been gardening!

Last year, I think the 3rd of June, I had to have an emergency appendectomy.

Before and after the appendectomy, I did not feel like gardening....so, my flower beds were in a mess! Chickweed, iron weed and any other weed imaginable inhabited my flower beds.

I lost a bunch of roses....so sad.....The ones that I have left are now being lovingly tended...and I ordered 3 more!!! from Ashdown Roses - Pegasus, Crocus Rose and Crown Prince Margerheta (sp?)

I went to the Roses Unlimited website and I am in ROSE LUST. I can not order anymore without creating at least one (if not more) new rose beds....

I must also mosaic....have to do another birdbath....gotta create some more pieces for Holiday shows.
